My friend adopted a cat from a rescue. They guestimate she's about 2, but she seems to be in teenage-kitty stage. If cats are anything like dogs, they take
some time to calm down and grow into their legs. Anyhoo, her cat is very sweet and cuddly, but she seems to be a bit quirky. She has her claws, and keeps
scratching the furniture....she doesn't like scratching posts. My friend is considering having her declawed, but as a last resort. Unless anything can be
done, she has destroyed her bed and is working on the sofa. The cat will look directly at her and do it, even though she yells "no", then she'll
run, then come right back to do it again.
Also, she seems to have a fascination with watching things fall. She jumps onto tables knocking over everything one-by-one....plants, perfume bottles, candles....everything until it's all off the tables. Now it's gotten to the point of knocking things off kitchen counters....cookie jars, etc. Sometimes she also takes these things and hides them in closets and under beds.
Also, I don't know if this is a cat thing, but she attacks people's feet when they are under blankets. It's funny until you get scratched and are bleeding, lol.
Any of you cat-sperts have any suggestions for curbing some of these behaviors? She tried a water pistol, but it works limitedly, meaning, she stops when shot, then comes back and it's a repeating cycle. She really is a sweet cat.
