Hey everyone,
I visit our local animal shelter often to donate stuff and I have noticed a definite trend in the breeds there, I was wondering if it was the same everywhere, Do certain breeds seem to predominate at your local shelter? We get a lot of pit bulls, huskies, lab mixes and shepherd mixes, and beagles. Of course they are not all in these categories but a lot are. It seems strange to me the amount of pitbulls we get because we are a very rural area. I've seen a lot of purebreds dumped there as well, including a 6 month old Golden Retriever dumped because of a congenetial bladder defect. The most heartbreaking to me are the senior dogs. I always imagine the poor things as so confused losing their long time home and everything they have known. Right now there is a 9 year old Springer Spaniel in there and he is the sweetest dog you have ever seen. I wish I could take home all of them.
